The Amalfi Coast is short, about 50 kilometres from Positano to Vietri, but the road is so narrow and winding that where you stay decides your trip. We use two bases. Positano, the pastel town that tumbles down to the beach, is the place for the first four nights: its boats reach Capri and Amalfi, and its evenings are the most romantic on the coast. Ravello, 350 metres up in the hills above Amalfi town, is quieter, cooler and grander, with two of Italy's finest gardens, and it gives the honeymoon a calm ending.
Every hotel on every tier has a sea-view room confirmed in writing, which on this coast is everything. Expect stairs: Positano is built vertically, and hotels at the top of town offer shuttles while those near the beach have porters for your luggage. The private boat day to Capri is the highlight for most couples. A traditional wooden gozzo with a skipper takes you around the Faraglioni rocks, into the Green Grotto and, if the sea is calm, to the Blue Grotto, before you lunch on the island and ride the chairlift up Monte Solaro.
The rest is pace and detail. Joanna Dela Cruz's team books the guided Path of the Gods walk early in the morning before the heat, a lemon-grove cooking class above Minori where you make fresh pasta and tiramisu, beach loungers in Positano and a candlelit dinner on a terrace in Ravello. Private drivers handle every transfer, so you never queue for the coastal bus or fight for a taxi.
What to expect: there is no direct flight to Naples from Dubai, so you fly with one stop, about 8 to 10 hours in total, and transfer 90 minutes to Positano. The season runs from Easter to October, and many hotels close from November to March. May, June and September are ideal, 22 to 28 degrees with warm sea. Food is simple and superb: seafood, lemon everything and buffalo mozzarella from nearby Campania, with halal and vegetarian requests easily met.

Day by day
Day 1Fly to Naples, transfer to Positano
You fly from Dubai to Naples with one stop, about 8 to 10 hours in total. Your private driver meets you in arrivals and drives you around the Bay of Naples and over the Sorrento peninsula, about 90 minutes, with the first sight of Positano from the coast road unforgettable. After check-in and the honeymoon welcome, walk down through the lanes for a sunset drink on the beach, then dinner overlooking the sea. Overnight in Positano.
Day 2Positano at leisure, the beach and the lanes
A day to settle in. Your loungers are reserved on Spiaggia Grande or the quieter Fornillo beach, a 10-minute walk along a cliff path. Swim in the clear water, then lunch on fried calamari and spaghetti alle vongole at a beach restaurant. In the afternoon, explore the boutiques of Via dei Mulini, known for linen and sandals made to order, and the majolica dome of Santa Maria Assunta. Dinner tonight is at your leisure, with your consultant's list of favourites. Overnight in Positano.
Day 3Path of the Gods walk
Your driver collects you at 7.30 am for the 30-minute drive up to Bomerano, the start of the Path of the Gods. With a guide, walk about 7 kilometres along the cliffs high above the sea, around three hours, mostly downhill, with views of Positano and Capri. The walk ends at Nocelle, from where steps or a short bus ride bring you back to Positano by lunchtime. The afternoon is for the pool, a nap or a massage. Overnight in Positano.
Day 4Private boat day to Capri
Your skipper meets you at the Positano pier at 9.30 am aboard a traditional wooden gozzo. Cruise along the coast past Li Galli islands, cross to Capri and circle the island: the Faraglioni rocks, the Green Grotto and, if the sea is calm, the Blue Grotto by rowing boat. Swim from the boat, then go ashore at Marina Grande for lunch and the funicular to Capri town, or ride the chairlift up Monte Solaro in Anacapri. Return by about 5 pm. Overnight in Positano.
Day 5Along the coast to Amalfi and up to Ravello
Your private driver follows the coast road east, about 45 minutes, stopping in Amalfi town to see the striped cathedral of Sant'Andrea and taste lemon sweets at a historic pastry shop. Continue up to Ravello, about 20 minutes. After check-in, visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo, whose terraces inspired Wagner and host summer concerts. Dinner in the main piazza, with the bells of the cathedral and the sea far below. Overnight in Ravello.
Day 6Villa Cimbrone, cooking class and a candlelit dinner
Walk 15 minutes to Villa Cimbrone early, before the crowds, for its Terrace of Infinity, a balcony of marble busts with an extraordinary view of the coast. In the late morning, your driver takes you down to a lemon grove above Minori for a cooking class: fresh pasta, a local sauce and tiramisu, eaten in the shade with the family who run it. Rest in the afternoon, then enjoy your candlelit dinner for two on a terrace in Ravello. Overnight in Ravello.
Day 7Transfer to Naples airport and fly home
After a final breakfast, your driver takes you to Naples airport, about 90 minutes to two hours. For an afternoon or evening flight, we can arrange a guided stop at Pompeii on the way, about two hours among the ruins, at extra cost. Allow two hours at the airport. You fly home to Dubai with one stop, arriving late tonight or the next morning depending on the connection. Our operations team tracks your journey.

Travellers on this holiday
Positano, Ravello and a day on Capri. Sea-view room with lemon trees on the terrace and a private boat to the Blue Grotto. Elena even arranged a photographer for an hour in Positano, and those pictures are now on every wall of our flat.
Two nurses who finally took a proper honeymoon a year after the wedding. We paid in four instalments over five months and it was worth every shift. Sorrento, Positano and Capri, and an upgrade to a terrace room at the last hotel.
Pakistani couple on our honeymoon and our first time in Europe. Elena prepared the Schengen file and briefed us on everything from ferries to tipping. The Path of the Gods hike and dinner in Ravello with the whole coast below us were perfect.
Beautiful, but the drive from Naples airport along the coast took far longer than expected, nearly two and a half hours in July traffic. Our room in Positano was worth it once we arrived. The limoncello tasting in Amalfi town was a nice touch.
