Tandem skydive over Palm Jumeirah with video and photos
4 h · starts 08:00, 11:00 · 5.0 (3)
This is the one people put on their list for years, and it is worth doing properly. We work with a licensed partner drop zone beside Palm Jumeirah, which jumps under civil aviation rules with instructors who each have thousands of tandem jumps. Our van picks you up 45 minutes before your check-in and Viktor Petrenko, who runs our adventure trips, stays with you until you are back at the door. Book early: weekend slots between November and March sell out weeks ahead.
At check-in you show your passport or Emirates ID, complete a medical declaration and are weighed; the weight limit of 100 kg is strict and is checked on the scale, not by eye. Then you meet your instructor, get into a jumpsuit and harness and have a short briefing on body position for exit, freefall and landing. You do not need any experience. Waiting is part of the day: wind, cloud and air traffic all affect the schedule, so allow the full four hours and do not plan anything tight afterwards.
The aircraft climbs to about 13,000 feet in 20 minutes, with the Palm and the coast below. Then the door opens. Freefall lasts around 60 seconds at roughly 200 km an hour, the instructor opens the parachute, and the next five minutes are calm, quiet and spectacular as you circle down over the fronds of the Palm to land on the drop zone. A camera flyer or the instructor's handcam films the jump, and your edited video and photos are included in the price, not sold afterwards as an expensive extra. Health matters: the jump is not for anyone pregnant or with heart, back or neck conditions, and you must not scuba dive in the 24 hours before jumping.
How the time is spent
- 07:15Pickup from your hotel or home
The van collects you 45 minutes before your 08:00 check-in. Eat a light breakfast and bring your passport or Emirates ID; it is required.
- 08:00Check-in at the drop zone
Show your ID, complete the medical declaration and step on the scale. The 100 kg limit is checked strictly, including clothing.
- 08:30Meet your instructor and briefing
Your tandem instructor fits your jumpsuit and harness and explains the body position for exit, freefall and landing. Ask anything you like.
- 09:15Board the aircraft
Depending on wind and air traffic, your load is called. The climb to about 13,000 feet takes 20 minutes, with views of the Palm and the coast.
- 09:35Freefall and parachute ride
About 60 seconds of freefall, then the parachute opens and you glide down for around five minutes over Palm Jumeirah to the landing area.
- 10:15Video and photos handed over
Relax in the drop zone lounge while your edited video and photos are prepared and sent to you, ready to share before you leave.
- 12:00Drop-off at your door
We allow the full morning because weather holds are common. Most guests are back by about 12:00; delays can push this later.

Guests on this experience
Did it for my sixtieth, much to my children's horror. Viktor made sure the medical form was sorted in advance and kept me calm during the wait. Landing on the beach with my grandchildren cheering was the best birthday present I have ever given myself.
Our company team booked this as a reward for hitting target, four jumpers and six spectators. Everything ran on schedule, the instructors were reassuring, and the video package was worth adding. The spectators had a great view from the landing zone too.
Tandem jump over the Palm, a lifelong dream ticked off. Viktor handled the paperwork, the weight check and the timings so all I had to do was turn up and not panic. The freefall view of the Palm fronds is something I will never forget.
